Winston Davis on how inmates can be rehabilitated as the UK’s prison system nears its breaking point

The Spectator’s editor Fraser Nelson is joined by Charlie Taylor, HM Chief Inspector of Prisons, and Winston Davis, entrepreneur and former prisoner. The prison system is almost at breaking point; the newly appointed Justice Secretary Shabana Mahmood has announced thousands of prisoners will be released early to avoid overcrowding. What will the effect of her changes be? Keir Starmer has also appointed James Timpson as Prison Minister – a man who hires ex-offenders and thinks many prisoners shouldn’t be in jail. Will they change the system for better or worse?
