Atul Srivastava is an ecology expert with broad hands-on experience in the environmental sector. He has worked across the spectrum of environmental experience including: – digging holes in nature reserves, working for government agencies and influencing European policy, the painstaking monitoring of badgers and dolphins, to negotiating deals with Corporate Companies in the glamour of Canary Wharf. He currently works for British Trust for Conservation Volunteers and counts amongst his experience work with: – the Environment Agency, Greenpeace, Friends of the Earth and Earthwatch Atul is running in the Telford 10k Road Race on 20 December 2009, to raise funds for BTCV – you can support him at Justgiving.
With a Masters Degree in Environmental Management, Atul has studied local environments throughout the UK as well as Italy, Kenya and Egypt.

Atul continues works as a fundraiser for environmental projects, writing applications, developing innovative project ideas and making presentations to a variety of funding sources. Atul regularly presents the information films, live radio broadcasts and live events for the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers. He has lead exclusive interviews with celebrity environmentalists including Sir David Attenborough and Chris Packham, as well as the leaders of the Green Party and a number of MPs. His latest promotional film was premiered at Buckingham Palace where he was congratulated by the Duke of Edinburgh!
Atul is passionate about explaining to the public the practical things that they can and can’t do, and where governments, private companies and charities have their role to play, reassuring us that it’s not all doom and gloom!
With a passion for practical action, Atul volunteered for a dolphin conservation project with Earthwatch in Australia in 2000, monitoring dolphins off the Queensland coast in order to map areas that are important to protect as marine reserves. He has worked for both Greenpeace and Friends of the Earth as a ‘chugger’ – one of those street fundraisers you try to avoid in the street! He got stuck into practical conservation volunteering with Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust and BTCV (British Trust for Conservation Volunteers) before moving to the Environment Agency as a fundraiser, bringing in hundreds of thousands of pounds for environmental projects.
As environmental issues such as climate change and loss of global biodiversity are increasingly recognised by the public, Atul believes the environmental movement has achieved its first aim of raising awareness, and the emphasis is now on practical action at all levels, from individuals, to businesses and ultimately governmental co-operation at the global level.
