DRONE DESTROYER DEAL: Elbit Secures $60m NATO Contract to Crush Aerial Threats

Elbit Systems Ltd., an Israel-based defence technology company, announced on January 6, 2025, that it had been awarded a $60 million contract to provide its ReDrone Counter Unmanned Aerial Systems (C-UAS) to a European NATO country. The contract will be executed over a period of three years.

The ReDrone solution, described by Elbit Systems as a modular, multi-sensor, and multi-mission system, integrates advanced radar, signal intelligence (SIGINT), electronic warfare (EW) countermeasures, and electro-optical (EO) payloads.

According to the company, these components enable the system to detect, identify, locate, track, and neutralise multiple drones simultaneously under a variety of conditions, both urban and rural, during day and night.

“This contract, coming amid the rising threat of unmanned aerial systems, follows a series of contracts awarded to us in the CUAS field,” said Oren Sabag, General Manager of Elbit Systems ISTAR & EW.

“We are proud that another NATO member country has chosen our solution, further demonstrating the robustness and effectiveness of our system, built on our advanced capabilities in EW, SIGINT, radar, and EO technologies.”

The ReDrone system includes stationary and mobile configurations, allowing it to be deployed on vehicular platforms for enhanced operational flexibility. It also features advanced Command and Control (C4I) capabilities to manage complex missions.

As the use of drones for surveillance and hostile activities increases globally, NATO member states have been enhancing their counter-drone capabilities.
