The UK and Germany have signed an historic treaty which the British Prime Minister has described as the ‘first of its kind ever’ between the two countries. The Kensington treaty, signed by Friedrich Merz and Keir Starmer covers defence, energy, trade and migration Starmer said it was a statement of intent to work closer together and is part of a wider plan by the British Prime Minister to improve EU relations post Brexit. It follows President Macron’s state visit to the UK a few weeks ago. But how historic is this treaty and what difference will it make to the UK and Europe?
