Hair Care

For me there is nothing worse than a bad hair day, it affects my mood and my confidence! I find it pays to look after my locks as best I can by investing in a good hair cut, reviewing the colour and condition and by eating healthily.

Coffee

I love my coffee! Moderate coffee consumption of four to five cups per day is safe and may even confer some health benefits. It takes approx 20 mins for caffeine to get into one’s system and most of us find we are more mentally alert after 1-2 cups. In the UK we drink an average of 3 cups of coffee a day and 4 -5 cups is considered OK but in moderation! 7 cups is heavy use although in Scandinavia they are known to drink 11 cups a day!

When To Exercise

I’m often asked when is the most beneficial time to exercise? Well personally I enjoy working out first thing in the morning. But according to leading physiologist Mike Doherty who conducted research on a group of elite swimmers, the immune system can be compromised at different times of the day – and often in the morning. However, whilst it is true to say that the immune system is often compromised in elite athletes due to their intense levels of training, it is most unlikely to occur as a result of ordinary levels of activity such as we perform in the gym or the swimming pool before work in the morning.
